Hamdy Soliman, chairman of Nubian Union in Europe, threatened to internationalize the Nubian issue by asking the United Nations and international organizations to intervene. Egypt's Deputy PM Ali al-Selmi claimed he could not conduct a dialogue with the union or recognize the Nubian identity in the new constitution. Soliman told Youm7 al-Selmi's office informed them the Deputy PM asked them to prepare a preliminary list of demands and to form a delegation to conduct a dialogue with the government, while al-Selmi backed away from the situation refusing to speak to them. Fouad Shabaka, head of the Nubian Union in Seweden, considered al-Selmi's actions as arbitrary action against the Nubian issue similar to that of Mubarak's regime. He added that recognition of the Nubian identity is a main demand that should not be abandoned.
