Hundreds of “No military trials for civilians” supporters organized a silent protest on Kasr El Nile Bridge, along with members of both the “Second Rage Revolution” and “We are all detainees” Facebook pages. The protest named “Release Egypt” will take place on Monday, November 14 under the call launched by the group. A march is supposed to be organized in Alexandria starting from Saad Zaghloul Square to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier on Tuesday, November 15. Tens of protestors carried signs denouncing military trials for civilians and protestors. The protesters distributed leaflets among cars with the names of citizens arrested by military judiciary. Member of “No military trials for civilians” and political activist Nour Ayman Nour said, “We chose Kasr El Nile Bridge due to the importance it acquired during the mourning protests for Khaled Saeed. The silent protests could be a good alternative to demonstrations in Tahrir Square.” Nour also said, “We are facing a fierce opponent and military minds do not negotiate. We have to continue practicing public and media pressure.” Today, there are many families of citizens who were arrested during the first months after the revolution have had their appeals accepted and are being retried, added Nour. He pointed out the difference between military trials and fair civil trials are that civil judges sometimes alleviate verdicts according to their discretion.
