Egypt's trade balance deficit rose by 22 percent during August 2011 according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics. The agency said the deficit reached 18.169 billion EGP during August 2011 in comparison to 14.888 billion EGP the same period last year. The statement, issued by the agency in August 2011, said exports had risen by 9 percent reaching 13.294 billion EGP in August 2011 as opposed to 12.194 billion EGP in August 2010. The rise in exports was due to the increase in prices of goods like iron raw materials, wheat and crude oil.
