JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia: Twenty Egyptian pilgrims were injured in a road accident Friday after their bus overturned in the Saudi Arabian city of Taif. The pilgrims were returning to Riyadh after performing the pilgrimage. Three of the pilgrims are severely injured, according to sources. Saudi security forces and the Red Crescent headed to the accident site to transport the injured to the hospital. The majority of the pilgrims were slightly wounded. They are expected to leave hospital within 72 hours, the sources added. Sources attributed traffic as the cause of the crash. The Saudi Road Safety Squad intensified its presence in preparation for road accidents during the pilgrimage season. Security will also patrol roads along roads in Riyadh and Taif.
