CAIRO: An official security source in Egypt's Interior Ministry announced the closure of the Great Pyramid of Giza area Friday, November 11 and the cancellation of all foreign visits to the archeological area of the pyramids to avoid any confusion among people. The Public Administration of Tourism Police was notified by the Supreme Council of Antiquities of the cancellation of the Masonic ceremony that was scheduled to be held on Friday. Ten revolutionary coalitions announced their solidarity and support for the call adopted by a number of activists and public personalities to hold Friday prayers at the Pyramids area. They also called for a demonstration to express their dismay at the decision to allow the Masonic ceremony at the archeological area by Egyptian officials. The call came despite the recent statement issued by an official in Giza Governorate that the Masonic ceremony had been cancelled and the company in charge of the ceremony informed of the decision a week ago. The Egyptian coalitions said in a statement that Jews believe the date, 11-11-2011, will not be repeated. The coalitions also said that Jews believed the date was considered a watershed day in their history, while others view the day as the end of the world.
