CAIRO: Egypt's Supreme Council of Antiquities issued a statement today announcing the closure of the Great Pyramid at Giza tomorrow, Friday November 11, for maintenance. The statement was published on the council's official Facebook page. The decision to close the pyramid all day tomorrow was taken after the council's meeting today with the tourism, antiquities and general security police. It has lead to the cancellation of all the visits and events that were to take place there. Atef Abu el-Dahab, head of the Egyptian Archeological sector, confirmed the statement, saying it is to perform necessary maintenance on the pyramid. Arabic here
