Egypt's Grand Mufti, Ali Gomaa, received an ecclesiastical delegation in his office in Eftaa House yesterday. The delegation included bishops Armia Yoanis, Morcos and Boutros, Pope Shenouda III's secretarial group. The delegation met Al-Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed al-Tayeb before meeting Gomaa. The Christian delegation came to congratulate Egypt's leading Muslim clerics on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, an Islamic religious feast. Gomaa also wished a speedy recovery to Pope Shenouda, who has been ill. “We are one nation. I wish the Egyptian people could pass this phase and reach the safe side quickly,” said Gomaa. Gomaa also said that Egypt is an example of peaceful living between Muslims and Christians and hoped Egypt could solve all problems before January 25, 2012, the one-year anniversary of the beginning of Egypt's January uprising. For his part, Bishop Armia sent Pope Shnouda's congratulations to the Grand Mufti and all Muslims for Eid al-Adha. Pope Shenouda wished peace and happiness to reveal through Egypt. “We love each other even when we disagree. We pray for Egypt to be peaceful,” said Bishop Armia.
