The head of the military judiciary, Adel al-Moursi, said Thursday that Alaa Abdel Fatah was not interrogated as a political activist but as a criminal defendant. The judge rejected Abdel Fattah's appeal and ruled his 15-day detention would continue. Abdel Fatah is accused of vandalizing facilities belonging to the armed forces, stealing weapons belonging to the armed forces, assaulting on-duty state employees, and inciting people to violence against the armed forces. Moursi said that all the accusations fall under military jurisdiction. He said that the defendants in the October 9 Maspiro clashes, which left 27 dead, include Abdel Fatah and other military and civilian figures.
