CAIRO: Hundreds of Copts today called for a Coptic march today, Sunday, October 30, at 5 p.m. The march organizers are demanding a fair investigation into the Maspiro clashes and the release of the detained Copts who were arrested during the clashes on October 9. Copts will not stop marches to get rights and to apply the principles of citizenship and condemnation of discrimination, march organizers confirmed. Copts are also organizing a huge march on the 40th day of the Maspiro clashes, organizers said. This march will remind people of the clashes and the martyrs and call for expedited prosecution of those responsible. The Orthodox Church in Canada is arranging a funeral march in which martyrs from Maspiro will be honored. The march will end at the Canadian Parliamentary Yard. The Canadian Parliament earlier issued a statement condemning the violations against minorities in Egypt. The Canadian Parliament is also discussing potential Canadian aid on the condition of Egypt upholding its commitments to religious rights and human rights.
