CAIRO: Egyptian secuirty forces cordoned off the area around the Judges Club in downtown Cairo on Friday night. The move came as dozens of lawyers and activists gathered outside the club, chanting against he judges and members of the public prosecution. The lawyers gathered when they heard that some judges had opened fire in the air to break up the protest outside Egypt's High Court of Justice. The protest was organized by lawyers and graduates of the Faculty of Law. The demonstration coincided with a meeting of judges. The lawyers said one judge hit a lawyer with his gun and injured him in the face and mouth. They said they intend to file a lawsuit against this judge. The lawyers chanted, "the people want to purge the judiciary." The lawyers confirmed that their protest is peaceful and they did not assault any of judges. They also denied their intention to storm the High Judicial Court headquarters.
