CAIRO: The Netherlands is the sixth largest commercial partner and investor in Egypt on the European level, according to Dutch Ambassador to Egypt Susan Blankhart. Blankhart said both countries cooperate in many sectors, such as agriculture, water administration, infrastructures, and energy. Blankhart's statements came during a symposium titled, "Financial mechanisms and technical support programs provided by the Dutch government to Egyptian companies." The symposium aims to enhance mutual interests between both countries in different fields, according to the ambassador. Over 35 years, the Netherlands supported Egypt in of water administration, re-distribution of revenues of economic growth, and in human and women's rights, she added. The Dutch government developed certain mechanisms for establishing and developing joint projects in Egypt, according to the ambassador. These financial mechanisms provide Egyptian companies with the chance of finding Dutch investors and businessmen and raising the rate of competition and exporting to foreign markets. The Dutch government's mechanisms are used in 58 states with a budget of €70 billion. The mechanisms provide around €1.5 million for the project, which lasts for 30 months. The local partner is expected to contribute 25 percent of the funding, said Loic Baker Hoff, a Private Sector Investment Mechanisms official. The mechanisms take women's roles and respecting the society and religious standards into consideration, he added.
