Israeli Ministry of Infrastructure announced Egypt resumed its flow of natural gas to Israel on October 23 but 30 percent less than the agreed amount. Israeli radio station mentioned Egyptian authorities resumed the flow of natural gas after a cessation that lasted from July until October of 2011, since the gas pipeline in North Sinai exploded six times during the current year. The Israeli Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure confirmed the resumption of gas flow occurred gradually to test the different machines' power and the gas pipeline. The ministry added in an official statement the amount of gas flow into Israel is 30 percent less than the original amount, according to the contract signed between both countries during the former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak's tenure. The Israeli radio said the resumption of gas flow could reduce burdens on Israel since the price of electricity will be reduced. In related news, Egyptian Minister of Petroleum Mohammed Ghorab said a new price has been agreed upon to export gas to Jordan, exceeding U.S. $5 million for a million thermal units, which is twice the amount than the former price.
