The Independent Coalition of Tour Guides will meet on Thursday to discuss the demands of Egypt's tour guides. Demands include preventing foreigners from working as tour guides in Egypt and pressuring the Ministry of Tourism to pay compensation to those who were harmed as a result of Egypt's January 25 Revolution, which dealt a severe blow to the industry. The meeting will also discuss steps to conduct internal elections which will pave the way for the elections of the public syndicate. Talks will extend to the losses which threaten the tourist sector and insecurity, which poses a major threat to tourist and archeological sites in Egypt. It is important to mention that the coalition held a meeting last week to criticize the recent assaults against tour guides committed by thugs in Luxor and Hurghada. It demanded the Interior Ministry interfere to protect tourists and tour guides.
