The Egypt's Tour Guide Syndicate submitted a request to the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces and the Egyptian cabinet to increase their focus on tour guides as a part of the tourist industry in Egypt, said Mohamed Ghareeb, head of the syndicate. Ghareeb demanded authorities consider the demands raised by the tour guides, especially since the current crisis has negatively affected them. He told Youm7 that the syndicate demanded the council support it through the High Council of Archeology. Ghareeb demanded compensation for guides harmed by the declining tourism sector in the wake of the January 25 Revolution, and measures to prevent foreigners from working as tour guides in Egypt. He added that the syndicate also demanded increasing security at archeological sites.
