The controversial Egyptian film "678" won awards at the Chicago International Film Festival. “678” won the Silver Hugo for best runner-up feature, and best actor for Maged el-Kedwany. The festival began Oct. 6 and ran for a week. The film has also won awards from the Sydney, Taormina, and Khouribga film festivals. It successfully opened the market for Egyptian films in European countries. “678” will be commercially screened in Spain, Portugal, Norway, Brazil, Sweden, France and Denmark. The film was written and directed by Mohamed Diab. It stars Bushra, Nelly Karim, Majid el-Kedwany, and Bassem Samra.
