CAIRO: Information provided by Assistant Egyptian Minister of the Interior and Head of the Judicial Committee for Reclaiming Smuggled Money Essam el-Gohary was sent to the Illicit Gains Authority (IGA) on May 30, 2011, said Faird el-Dib, attorney to former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak. The ousted president and his two sons, Alaa and Gamal, have assets worth 340 million EGP (U.S. $56.91 million) in Switzerland, reported el-Gohary. The IGA also received dated documents regarding the Mubaraks' assets that report legitimate sources of money not coming from Egypt, el-Dib reported. Alaa Mubarak is not currently under IGA investigation although he voluntarily submitted information about his assets, el-Dib continued. Gamal Mubarak has been under IGA scrutiny since 2003 when he was the General-Secretary of the Policy Committee of the now-dissolved National Democratic Party. He submitted financial disclosures in 2003 and 2008 regarding Swiss bank assets, said el-Dib. Gamal also confirmed his financial disclosures upon leaving his post, the attorney added. Article 17 of the Illicit Gains Authority Law mandates that financial disclosures to the Authority remain secret, said el-Dib, arguing that el-Gohary violated the IGA law.
