CAIRO: The top council of Egypt's Coptic Christian Church, headed by Pope Shenouda III, condemned the assault on Coptic Christians during last night's deadly Maspiro clashes. The Holy Synod issued a statement condemning the violence that killed 24 people and injured over 200 at a peaceful protest. The statement said the council believes there were infiltrators among the Coptic demonstrators. It also said Copts feel their problems are never been solved as offenders are never published and solutions are never found. The Holy Synod also invited the Coptic people for three days of prayer and fasting, beginning tomorrow. Pope Shenouda met with 70 bishops earlier today.
