Al-Azhar Grand Sheikh, Ahmed al-Tayeb, held a meeting for members of the Egyptian family house on Monday October 10, which includes Muslim and Christian religious scholars, intellectuals and thinkers. They discussed the events at Maspiro and the role of religious leaders to keep stability in Egypt. They also discussed what might be the reason of the events. Among those attending the meeting are the former Minister of Awqaf, Mahmoud Hamdy Zaqzouqp; former Mufti, Nasr Farid Wasel; head of Al-Azhar University, Dr. Osama Al-Abd; former minister of Awqaf, Abdullah Al-Husseini; and representatives of the Anglican and Protestantism Church. Meanwhile, the Orthodox Church was absent because they were attending the funeral of Maspiro's martyrs. Al-Tayeb called Pope Shenouda III of Alexandria on Sunday October 9 and invited him to the meeting. In related news, Al-Tayeb received the British ambassador in Cairo, Games Watt on Monday October 10. The visit only lasted ten minutes.
