Democratic Coalition will choose next Egyptian president
Published in Youm7 on 09 - 10 - 2011

Deputy chairman of Freedom and Justice Party Essam el-Eriyan said the Democratic Coalition will choose the next Egyptian president, either one of the presidential candidates who nominated themselves or the coalition will have their own candidate, whom they will announce later.
“Al-Wafd Party didn't withdraw from the Democratic Coalition and is still a key partner in the coalition, which aims for the next parliament to be a representative of all political spectrums. It also aims to form a coalition government representing all these spectrums,” said el-Eriyan during his interview on Ahl El-Balad TV program.
He said the electoral alliance should complement all political alliances, but Al-Wafd Party preferred to separate its list because it believed this will guarantee more votes for the coalition. He also said the winners on Al-Wafd Party's list in the parliamentary elections will be included in the parliamentary institute of the Democratic Coalition.
About the law of isolation, el-Eriyan said all the corrupt people should be isolated from political life and the revolutionary-chosen parliament. He called upon Egyptians to come out on elections day to vote and bring down members of the former regime.
El-Eriyan expects the Muslim Brotherhood's (MB) voted percentage to reach 35 percent or more in the next parliament. He pointed out the outcome of the polls indicate the winning of the coalition by 69 percent of the chairs will indicate the eligibility of the coalition in choosing the next president.
He is still holding onto the slogan ‘Islam is the solution' for the candidates of the Freedom and Justice Party. He said this slogan will not cause a clash between the MB and the rest of political forces. Voters will be able to choose according to the most powerful program and not according to slogans.
