CAIRO: Hundreds of demonstrators rallied outside Maspiro, the Egyptian television and radio headquarters, in downtown Cairo today after organizing a march from Tahrir Square. The demonstrators raised symbolic red cards to the country's ruling military council, demanding it hand over power to a civilian authority. ‘Red cards' are commonly used in sports to indicate a serious offence where a player is often permanently suspended from the game. They raised the cards over the barbed wires and security barriers imposed by security forces around Maspiro. They chanted "Go Marshal," a reference to Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi, head of Egypt's ruling military council, and "Down with military rule." The demonstration impeded traffic on the Nile Corniche, a major throughway, especially when demonstrators closed half the road. They left the area after 15 minutes and returned to Tahrir
