Members of Egypt's Coptic Christian Church presented two documents related to the destruction of al-Marenab Church in the Upper Egyptian governorate of Aswan to Egypt's ruling military council and to the Egyptian Cabinet. The three-member Secretariat of the Pope reviewed the files during a session with Archbishop Marcos, the priest of the attacked church, and the church's lawyer, Osama Refaat. They presented the files with photos and videos that show attacks on the church. The secretary presented all documents to Pope Shenouda III, head of Egypt's Coptic Church, and briefed him on the situation. Bishop Ioannis sent the file to the military council to respond to statements by the governor of Aswan that said he did not issue permission of the church to be built. Pope Shenouda did not mention the attacks on the Aswan church or the violent crackdown at a Coptic protest early Wednesday morning at his weekly sermon. Arabaic here
