Egypt's Public Syndicate of Tour Guides criticized recent assaults that targeted three tour guides in Hurghada, Aswan, and Luxor. It strongly criticized the current state of insecurity that hit many Egyptian archeological sites in the wake of the country's January 25 Revolution. The chairman of the syndicate, Mohamed Ghareeb, told Youm7 "such assaults are strongly refused." He said the syndicate coordinated with its branch in Luxor to take the legal measures towards the recent attack that targeted a tour guide in the popular Upper Egypt tourist destination. They demanded the authorities arrest the vendor who assaulted the guide. Ghareeb expressed his refusal of any violations against tour guides, demanding officials intensify security presence in different archeological and tourist areas to protect both tour guides and tourists. In the same context, tour guides decided to organize a protest on Saturday in different governorates to criticize these assaults.
