Egyptian Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hisham Kandil called for the necessary to recourse water austerity through water consumption rationalization and the maintenance of water clarity and keep it from being polluted. He also urged to cooperate with Nile Basin countries to develop the upcoming water resources, considered the external substrate. Kandil added in a press statement Egypt is having a new policy towards the Nile Basin states at bilateral and regional, calling to understand these countries' point of views considering development. Kandil assured the International law is to maintain Egypt's historical rights to the Nile River water and its current and future usages. He added they will put into consideration how to benefit without harming the Egyptian benefits of water. He said the po litical and national movement, activated by Egypt towards Nile Basin countries after the Egyptian January 25 Revolution doesn't mean the argument ended but is still going deep. He pointed out the water challenges Egypt confronts in the next phase isn't only because of legal arguments but also of the rise in the consumption of irrigating water, estimated at 85 percent of Egyptian water resources.
