Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth mentioned Germany sent an envoy to Cairo in secret today. The newspaper reported the visit will include discussions among some security principals in Egypt to complete the deal about the captive Israeli soldier, Gilad Shalit, by Hamas. The newspaper added there are some expectations of German median Gerhard Conrad being in charge. The visit aims to activate a deal of exchange of captives between Israelis and Palestinians. The deal is releasing Shalit in turn for the release of Palestinian captives by Israel. Israeli sources told Yedioth the German envoy's visit to Cairo has to do with the captivated Israeli spy Ilan Grabil in Egypt's prisons. Grabil was accused of spying for Israel in Egypt. He is expected to be released in exchange for captivated Egyptians in Israeli prisons. Yedioth pointed out Shalit was caught and arrested in June 25, 2006 and was transferred to the Gaza strip in a military process called ‘Wasted illusion operation' by Hamas.
