Border guards, the Air Force, and the General Department of Drug Combat foiled an attempt to smuggle large quantities of weapons and drugs into Egypt from Libya via the Great Western Desert. Border guard units suspected an illegal attempt to infiltrate the Libyan-Egyptian border by two Toyotas carrying three tons from marijuana, two guns, three sniper rifles, and a shotgun. Border guards previously foiled an attempt to smuggle seven tons of diesel through the port of Damietta.
