Israeli media today claimed that Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohamed Kamel Amr refuted statement made by Egyptian Prime Minister Essam Sharaf, arguing that the Camp David Accords can be reformed. Amr said Egypt will always respect the peace treaty with Israel, news outlets reported. Amr's statements were routed to the Associated Press via Israel Sound Radio, and he claimed that Cairo will respect all agreements so long as the other parties respect them, too. Egypt respects its agreements with all countries, not just Israel. Israel recently criticized Prime Minister Sharaf for statements claiming that the Camp David agreement could be amended. The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs called the Egyptian ambassador to Tel Aviv Yasser Reda to get an explanation about Sharaf's statements.
