Darb 17/18 to screen ‘Sacrifice' tonight

CAIRO: The Fern Cinema at Darb 17/18 for Contemporary Arts will screen the Swedish film “Sacrifice,” today as the installment in its weekly cinema program.
The movie opens as retired actor Alexander is celebrating his birthday with friends and family. When a television program announces an impending nuclear disaster, Alexander promises God to sacrifice everything valuable to avoid the disaster.
The disaster is avoided, but Alexander realizes that his promise must now be fulfilled.
“Sacrifice” is Andre Tarkovisky's most recent film.
