Ismailia: Fifty-one vessels passed Suez Canal Monday, carrying 2.5 million tons of cargo. Tarek Hasanien, the Media Director for the Suez Canal Authority, said navigation in the canal is ongoing and secure. Thirty ships entered the canal from the Mediterranean, carrying 1.23 million tons. The Maersk Essex, traveling from England to Singapore, had largest load at 146,400 tons. Hasanien said 21 entered from the Red Sea with 1.27 million tons of cargo. The MSC Rosom's 157,000-ton load, traveling from Singapore to Italy, was the largest.
