CAIRO: Egyptian presidential candidate Abdullah al-Ashaal called upon Egypt's ruling military council to form a National Caretaker, which should impose the principle of questioning responsibilities. He said Prime Minister Essam Sharaf's government and that of former Prime Minister Ahmed Shafiq calmed Egypt's January 25 Revolution and encouraged Egyptians' enthusiasm. Al-Ashaal said the new government should have all duties enabling it to meet the revolutionary demands. He also called to avoid Egypt's ruling military council to be atop of any opinion scene to not have to interact with the public. The military council lost its chance to establish a strong state when Egyptians were stripped from their sociality, but because the military council helped calm the revolution, the people returned back to the street as if nothing happened, according to al-Ashaal. The presidential nominee rejected forming Civil Presidential Council because its members will not be chosen unanimously by Egyptians and so won't differ so much from Sharaf's government. Al-Ashaal called on all political powers to reunite again with public slogans like "Bread, Freedom and Social Justice," to avoid any personal or political party interests.
