Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ahmed al-Tayeb said Sufism has precious value, considered a path of the soul. He said the international Sufism conference was at a time when everyone needed restored faith. Sufism is an ideology, a school of thought, behavior and work. It should be improved, Ahmed al-Tayeb said during a meeting held with scholars who participated in the Sufism international conference at Al-Azhar Sheikhdom. "Sufism must be improved and should begin with a Sufi Sheikh, who should be capable of teaching and monitoring task," he added. Tayeb said Sufism should get rid of all the superstition contradicting the holy Quran; he is against the division of Muslims into nobles and non-nobles because a Muslim should be estimated by their faith and knowledge.
