The Expedite Court of Alexandria will today hold the first hearing in the case filed against Egyptian Prime Minister Essam Sharaf, Minister of Interior Maj. Gen. Mansour el-Issawy and Attorney General Abdul Magid Mahmoud in which all are charged with delaying the investigation of the bombing of the Two Saints Church. The case of the church bombing was ignored for nearly nine months, the plaintiffs argue. “I expect the government to send lawyers to represent the accused in the case,” said Joseph Malak, the attorney for the church. The New Year's Eve church bombing resulted in the death of 24 Coptic Christians and 100 injuries. Malak claims that he send memos, faxes and complaints to the Ministry of the Interior, the President of the Council of Ministers and the ruling military council. The case with the State Security Prosecution is the last resort, he argues. Malak also said that he will submit an urgent request for the court to demand the appearance of former Egyptian Interior Minister Habib al-Adly.
