CAIRO: Egyptian security forces intercepted smugglers attempting to move guns and ammunition along the Egyptian-Libyan border. The forces arrested three Egyptian fugitives in the Western Desert attempting to cross into Egypt at a checkpoint. A gunfight erupted between the smugglers and police, lasting more than three hours. Authorities confiscated weapons and ammunition, and referred the smugglers to prosecutors. Security forces combed the border to prevent any further smuggling operations.
