The Egyptian ambassador in Australia, Omar Metwali, received 122 archeological pieces from Australian authorities. The pieces were retrieved from an auction house in Melbourne in November 2010. The Egyptian embassy in Australia issued a statement announcing the Australian authorities caught these pieces after the Egyptian embassy presented an official request to retrieve them. The archeological pieces date back to the Pharaonic, Greek and Roman eras. The Egyptian ambassador hosted a big celebration in embassy headquarter and praised the Australian authorities' cooperation in restoring the pieces. Many Australian officials attended the celebration. “This is the third time the Australian authorities delivered archeological pieces to Egypt in the past six months,” said Metwali. It should be mentioned Melbourne, Australia, will host the Tutankhamen Exhibition during the celebration of the 60th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Egypt and Australia.
