CAIRO: Muslim Brotherhood members made up a large contingent of the audience at Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's speech at the Egyptian Opera House Tuesday evening, according to attendants. Some attendants criticized the disorder the audience, and altercations broke out between organizers and the audience. Chants were heard calling for the return of the Islamic Caliphate. The event was attended by prominent figures, senior politicians, foreign and Egyptian diplomats, and leaders from the Islamic Group. Salah Sayed Mustafa, a student at the College of Mass Communication, said political parties and religious figures came to the event, most notably members of the Muslim Brotherhood. Brotherhood members are eager to listen to Erdogan's achievements in Turkey without the intervention of secular government. Belal Sayed, a graduate of al-Azhar University's College of Medicine, said most al-Azhar graduates belong to the Brotherhood, noting also that most organizers are from Muslim Brotherhood.
