CAIRO: The French Cultural Institute is holding a photography exhibit of the French Youth Revolution today in Mounira. The French Cultural Institute aims to connect the Arab revolution with the French Youth Revolution, also known as the May 1968 Movement. "The May 1968 Movement was spontaneous, large-scale revolution against the solid hard institutions which formed French society at that time, such as schools, churches, political authority and companies," said the French Institute in gallery leaflet. The universities, schools and factories were places for thinking and holding dialogues. The slogans were raised to witness intensive intellectual activity, said the leaflet. It is also mentioned in the leaflet that the gallery not only shows photos but also provides visitors with information about the May 1968 Movement. The photos tell the story of another era, and it applies to 2011 events. The May 1968 movement resembled Egypt's January 25 Revolution. It erupted as a result of national and international conditions since the beginning of the 1960s.
