The Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood (MB) today condemned the unrest Egypt has witnessed over the last day and urged the rapid transfer from military council rule to civil authority rule. The Brotherhood stressed the importance of sticking to a timeline for the transfer of power to a civilian authority and democratic rule. “This is the only way to foil internal and external efforts to frustrate the January 25 Revolution and spread chaos,” a member said. The civil authority gets its legitimacy from the people and will therefore rush to meet its demands, the MB added. National powers must be aware of any threats to the goals of the January 25 Revolution. The Brotherhood also denounced the recent attacks on the Israeli embassy in Giza and the Egyptian Ministry of the Interior, and condemned the burning of criminal evidence, the aggression against the Giza Security Directorate and the clashes with security personnel. The MB asked for an urgent investigation of the incidents. Members of the Brotherhood also condemned the statement issued by the Ministry of the Interior because its claims were predicated on sources allegedly used during the rule of the ousted regime.
