Forty-five movements, coalitions, and political parties attending a symposium at the Leadership Development Center on el-Borg Street issued a statement Wednesday evening confirming their participation in protests this Friday. The political groups settled on a number of demands to raise at “Rectification Friday,” among them removing symbols of corruption and remnants of the formerly-ruling National Democratic Party from prominent legal and media positions, the end of military trials for civilians, and the repeal of all laws restricting free expression. The groups also requested the rehabilitation of the Central Security Force, and its support for the National Police compatible with the new era of respect for human dignity. They described the ongoing trials as a "farce,” demanding serious trials that preserve the people's rights against internal economical, political and social corruption. The organizations also asked for renegotiating the Egypt-Israel peace agreement. At the end of the statement, the groups said the peaceful protest is a right and asked Egyptians to support the revolution youth in order to achieve its aims.
