CAIRO: U.S. Ambassador to Cairo Anne Paterson told Egyptian Minister of Finance Hazem al-Beblawy that the U.S. government is considering granting Egypt U.S. $330 million (1.97 billion EGP) in aid. Beblawy and Paterson discussed the Egyptian economy in a meeting Monday. Paterson asserted her country's support for the Egyptian government to regain economic stability. The talks also tackled the possibility of holding meetings in Cairo to discuss the needs of the Egyptian economy. Beblawy said the Egyptian economy has begun to recover since the disruptions following the January 25 Revolution, adding that tourism rates have improved. Beblawy called on the international community to invest in Egypt to ensure the success of the January 25 Revolution and create more job opportunities. In preparation for the Group of 8 (G8) summit, Beblawy also met with David Cameron's special envoy the G8. The summit will be held next week in Marseille, France, where leaders of the world's eight largest economies will discuss the world economy as well as financial and technical cooperation with Egypt.
