Secretary-General of the Arab League Nabil al-Arabi announced today after a meeting with Arabian foreign ministers that he will travel to Syria at a date to be determined. “The Syrian officials welcome the visit but under certain conditions,” said the Syrian delegate to the League. “He will visit the country as chief of the League and not as an envoy to ‘solve the crisis,' as proposed by Gulf countries.” Syria condemned the Gulf countries' statement released to the media, according to a Youm7 source inside the League. Arab foreign ministers decided earlier to send al-Arabi to Syria to propose initiatives to solve the burgeoning crisis that is receiving full-frontal international condemnation.
