The undersecretary for the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism, Samy Mahmoud, will participate in the 2011 ETA Tourism Exhibition in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, from September 14-17. It is expected that Mahmoud will join a delegation of representatives from 25 countries. “The Tourism Ministry plans to invite Vietnamese companies and tour operators from the exhibition to attend a ministry event, as this is the first ever participation of Egypt at this exhibition,” said Mahmoud. The Vietnamese press delegation, accompanied by Miss Vietnam, that traveled to Egypt last month illustrated the tourism potential in post-revolutionary Egypt, said Director of the Exhibition Pham Huey Huai. “I encourage many to choose Egypt as a holiday destination,” he added. Mahmoud is currently working with the Egyptian ambassador to Vietnam and the regional representative of EgyptAir to prepare the Egypt pavilion at the exhibition. “Vietnam has one of the most promising untapped tourism markets,” said Mahmoud. Last year 4,000 Vietnamese tourists visited Egypt and EgyptAir is studying the possibility of opening a new line of flight routes to Vietnam.
