The Egyptian Islamic group Gama'a al-Islamiyya, led by Aswan Chief Sheikh Khalid el-Koussy, today organized a march in the Egyptian governorate of Aswan in celebration of Eid al-Fitr. The march started on Saad Zaghoul Street and continued down Nafak Street and through the tourist districts. The participants invited all to listen to the Eid sermon delivered by the former Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Studies in Aswan Sheikh Hussein al-Gergawy. The Islamic group wanted to celebrate the first Eid after the January 25 Revolution as well as urge citizens to contribute to the effort to save Somalis from the crushing famine.
