CAIRO: A public mock trial in Cairo passed a death sentence on Syrian President Bashar al-Assad yesterday. Assad was tried for the suppressive campaign by Syria's police and military troops, under the leadership of the president's brother, Maher al-Assad, against the Syrian people. The trial was held by prominent Syrian figures in Egypt at Cairo's Bar Association. The Syrians congratulated the Libyans for getting rid of Muammar Gadhafi's regime and said al-Assad is next. They said, “O coward Bashar, Allah's mosques mustn't be insulted,” and “Egypt and Syria, one hand.” The Political Affairs Committee of Egypt's Bar Association organized the trial. Many Yemeni, Libyan, Syrian, and other Arab revolutionaries attended. The jury accused al-Assad of perpetrating war crimes are criminalized by all international and global laws against the Syrian people since the Syrian uprising began on March 15. The jury charged Assad with betraying his nation and bloodletting of the Syrian and Arab citizens who live in Syria. Al-Assad was also accused of collusion with the “Zionist Entity” and amending the Syrian Constitution in only four hours. They said al-Assad continues his father's suppressive ruling. Consequently, the symbolic trial referred Bashar, his brother and his cousins to the Grand Mufti to ratify their death sentences.
