The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayeb today voiced his anger over the attacks on Syrians attending mosques on August 27, or “The Night of Fate.” Syrian forces allegedly attacked mosque-goers, wounded Imams and burnt minarets during a night described in the Quran as “peaceful until the dawn breaks.” “The aggressive forces do not care about Muslim blood or the sanctity of the mosque or even the blessed Night of Fate,” said al-Tayeb. “These criminals will pay for their guilt; if not in this world then by God's own hand on Judgment Day.”
