Nabil al-Arabi, Secretary-General of the Arab League, will travel to Damascus to resolve the ongoing crisis in Syria following an emergency meeting of the Arab League Council, the organization's executive body. In a resolution passed late last night, the council said they were worried about the deteriorating situation in Syria, where thousands have been killed or injured during protests against the regime of President Bashar al-Assad. The council stressed the need to end the bloodshed, respect the right of the Syrian people to a decent life, and implement political, social and economic reforms.
