CAIRO: Groups of protesters gathered outside the Israeli Embassy in Cairo today and resumed their sit-in. The protesters are calling for the Israeli ambassador to be expelled and the embassy closed. They are also asking to recall the Egyptian ambassador to Israel. The protesters chanted many slogans such as, "Israel we won't sell you gas any more, but we'll set the Jews on fire." The protest continued although the electricity went off in the street where the embassy is located. Security forces secured the place with six armored vehicles and two groups of military police forces. The sit-in was resumed after a day of calm in the neighborhood. Military police secured the area and evacuated street vendors from the surrounding streets. The call for Egypt to break diplomatic ties with Israel comes after five Egyptian soldiers were killed by Israeli gunfire on the Egypt-Israeli border ten days ago. Israel has apologized for the incident, calling it a “mistake.”
