Egyptian filmmakers won a grant from the Abu Dhabi Film Festival. The festival announced yesterday the second group of film projects receiving grants from the festival, which offers funds to support filmmakers in the Arab world. The grants offer both financial support to the tone of U.S. $50,000 and technical assistance to documentary projects in development and the final stages of production. Three Egyptian films managed to win the grant: documentary film "Tahrir 2011," directed by Omar Amin, Ayten Amin, Tamer Ezzat, which will participate in the main program of the Venice Film Festival 2011; documentary "Searching for oil and sand," directed by Philippe Laurent Depp; and "Poisoned Flowers," by Fawzi Saleh, which is a feature-length film.
