Military courts today acquitted all defendants standing trial for vandalism and violence during the incidents on June 28 and 29, said the El Nadim Center for Psychological Rehabilitation of Victims of Violence and Torture. The cases were heard in many sessions and the investigating officers were called to testify, the Center claims, where it was established that evidence against the defendants was based on hearsay, not direct eyewitnesses. Some of the testifying officers didn't recognize the detainees in the dock, the Center claims. Defense attorneys quickly filed motions to dismiss the charges, which were promptly granted, the Center reported.
