The Egyptian stock market indexes rose again today during the mid-session transactions particularly after foreign investors began purchasing large chunks of the market. Arab and Egyptian investors continued their sell-offs, though. The main Egyptian stock index EGX 30 rose 1.1 percent. The medium and small companies' index EGX 70 rose 1.6 percent. The quantity of transactions reached 105.8 million EGP (U.S. $17.69 million). Many main index shares made gains today, including El Swedi Electric, up 4.6 percent; Talaat Moatafa, up 1.02 percent; Sodek, up 1 percent; Orascom Telecom, up 3.04 percent; Commercial Bank, up 2.4 percent; Public Giza Contracting Company, up 2.7 percent; and Ezz Steel, up 1.4 percent.
