CAIRO: Egyptian Foreign Minister Mohamed Kamel today called the acting Israeli ambassador to Egypt to condemn the killing of Egyptian military and security personnel and request an official Israeli apology. The Ministry called the Israeli ambassador in Cairo Yitzhak Levanon but spoke with the acting ambassador as Levanon is not currently in Egypt, diplomatic sources said. “The Council of Ministries first statement is official and there has been no call for the withdrawal of the Egyptian ambassador in Israel,” said Kamel. “The second statement indicating a withdrawal of the ambassador is incorrect,” he added.
