The Egyptian House of Arab Singing will host a concert at the Prince Bashtak Palace with the Sharara Hexagonal Band tomorrow at 9 p.m. The concert will include music from “The Sight from Heart,” Mansora's Nights” and “Bedouin Nile Daughter.” The Sharara Hexagonal Band is an Egyptian performing art group that performs original acts other than musical compositions, including butterfly dances, Alexandria dances, Nile Flower and the Light's Night. Many of these performances were held at the Cairo Opera House. The band members include the children and grandchildren of musician Atiya Sharara. Hassan and Ahmed Sharara play the Fayyolina, Kholode Sharara plays the flute and Ashraf and Omar Sharara play the cello. Other members include Mohammed Mohyee on violin, Atef Emam on flute, Abdel-Rahman Ibrahim on double bass and Hany Zien on rhythm. Atiya Sharara began his music career in 1948 by playing traditional music like “The Light's Nights.” He formed his personal band in 1954 and went on to perform for various prestigious Arabs and Egyptians. Sharara established an Arabian music band in 1956 and traveled to both Libya and Jordan, where he participated in the Arabian Music Institute in Amman. Sharara has received many international prizes and awards for his music composition.
